I feel like I’m about to reveal some deep, dark secret. Maybe I am, but maybe I’m just like everyone else.
Where are all my online shopper friends at?? I know you are out there, I see all the malls and anchor stores closing. I see all your Amazon deliveries (OK, I don’t, but I know you get them!).
Even though I spend the majority of my time in workout clothes (not even “athleisure”) or my very casual work clothes, or my even more casual work from home clothes, I LOVE to browse clothing online.
I don’t know what it is… I think I feel like I should be living some other life. Or I feel like I need a complete makeover, or just need to step up my game once in a while. So, I grab my phone (usually), and check out some of my faves.
Now, not all of this scrolling leads to purchases, but sometimes it does. I’d say my success rate is about 50%– meaning, what I do buy, I end up returning about half. And TBH, I think that is one of the things I like about online shopping, I can return things without even going to the store. I guess I don’t consider a trip to the USPS as big of a burden?
I was getting multiple packages per week, and returning more than half of them. It was ridiculous!
Enter Stitch Fix
Even with all of the “needing of a makeover” talk, if you look in my closet, it is all the same colors, stripes and brands… My intentions are always to shop for new patterns and colors, but I end up with the same stuff! I will say that I have had salespeople help me in stores and have had some success, I just don’t pick those things out for myself, no clue why not.
I knew I had to try Stitch Fix. I new I needed someone to send me stuff. I knew I was not doing so well on my own and needed some help. I was just starting a new job at work, and needed an upgrade, as I would have more visibility.
So, I signed up, and waited for my first Fix to arrive. I also made a deal with myself — NO shopping outside of Stitch Fix. They were my shoppers, they knew what they were doing. This was key for me, it was a huge relief knowing I wasn’t going to “have to” look for new clothes and that I wouldn’t have to worry about returning items, as that is all included in the Stitch Fix service!
And, here we are, I just received my 5th Fix in about 8 months. I signed up initially to receive them monthly, but that was just too much for me, so I pushed it out. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to write this. I absolutely RAVE about them whenever I get the chance.
Why You Need Stitch Fix
It is completely personalized. You take a quick quiz about what types of clothes you like and what your style is. You can select a price point, request items for a special occasion, or even a change in seasons.
They listen to you! Every Fix, I get a little personal note about why they sent me what they sent me, how they fulfilled any of my requests and if they added anything just for fun. I’ve been super impressed with this aspect.
They send things you would never try on your own. As limited as my wardrobe was before, it has done a complete 180. I’m wearing patterns (flamingos, flowers, paisleys), I’m wearing colored jeans, I’m wearing blazers. Stuff I would have never picked for myself, but that I love!!
They put outfits together for you! With each Fix, along with the personalized note, they show you 5-6 ways to incorporate the items they sent you into more outfits. Some of them have the new pieces together and some have the new pieces with some closet basics. Hmmmm…. OK, maybe the shopping isn’t my real problem— it is putting outfits together….
My success rate is way higher! I get 5 items per Fix. I’ve never kept less than 3 items. Most times, I keep all 5 items. As much as I love my traditional online stores, I never have that much success. In fact, I’m probably even worse in the stores LOL. Mainly because I hate trying things on.
Returns are a breeze. As I mentioned above, returns are included. A return bag comes with each Fix. Any items you don’t like just go in the bag and to the post office. Check out using the Stitch Fix app, give some feedback and you are good to go. Couldn’t be easier.
I really can’t say enough. I’m sure not all of you have the same “issues” as I do when it comes to shopping and putting outfits together, but even if you don’t, I want you to FEEL THE RUSH of receiving that gift box every month!
I’m telling you, it is the best feeling. I get so excited when I see that shipping notice!
I’m telling you, this is a life changer!!
